My first visit Down Under was remarkable. I was attending a business conference and extended my stay for some personal R&R, and I cant wait to go back! Australia is such a large country that having spent just five nights in Sydney and three nights at the Great Barrier Reef, I only scratched the surface of this great nation.
Sydney has a scene that is both vibrant and sophisticated with lots of fun restaurants, bars, shops, parks and beaches.
Park Hyatt ~ Sydney
I stayed at the Park Hyatt, for sure one of the best hotels in town, where I had dinner with the GM. The food and service were amazing. I also tried the Establishment Hotel, which fits the bill for the client looking for a young, fun and contemporary boutique experience since it is right in the middle of all the action in Sydney. The Establishment has done a great job in creating a unique area called The Ivy Complex, where guests can stay, dine, drink and party. Felix and Mr. Wong’s were some of my favorite restaurants, and the private clubs and bars such as Palmer & Co are very cool.
Qualia ~ Hamilton Island
After Sydney, I flew up to Hamilton Island and saw a great little property called “Qualia.” Then I took the 45- minute ferry to Hayman Island and stayed at the newly renovated One&Only Resort. The resort looks fantastic, and they offer a wide variety of activities: I took a helicopter to go snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef, I went jet skiing, I hiked and even took a pizza making class.
The food and experience were wonderful and I would highly recommend it for families
There are so many other areas of Australia to visit, which is why I can’t wait to go back. Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island, Saffire Freycinet Resort in Tazmania and the One& Only Wolgan Valley Ranch are next on my hit list.
Australia is a splendid country and I would highly recommend the itinerary I followed. The luxury product has finally arrived and there is something for everybody, but the country is still unspoiled and authentic. If you have never been or haven’t been lately, you won’t be disappointed.
